How does Gravel 'n' Gröstl work?

Gravel ‘n’ Gröstl is not a race!

Base camp in Walchsee: All 9 routes through the Kaiserwinkl start from here. The routes range from 20 to 100 km (30 km, 40 km, 50 km …), totaling 540 km and 11 000 meters of elevation gain.

The order of the routes can be chosen freely, and it is not mandatory to complete all routes. Everyone can go at their own pace, alone, in pairs, or in a group.

Nighttime riding ban: 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

drafting

You can expect a diverse group of riders among the participants, ranging from very experienced riders to motivated beginners. If drafting is helpful for some, that’s fine with us.

Nevertheless, we want to promote a community ride: getting together, interacting with like-minded people, chatting, and having a good time. So it’s up to you to ride side by side and enjoy the nature along the route.

Those who prefer to ride in silence and just watch the rear wheels of others can, of course, do so.

However, slipstreaming requires a certain amount of knowledge and skill. So stay safe and communicate well – if you feel uncomfortable slipstreaming or being slipstreamed.
